AutoCAD x64isms [Most Resolved as of Release 3.0.0.603]

On the face of it, 32bit versus 64 bit is a simple doubling of bit length in processing. In reality, you are running a different operating system, different version of AutoCAD, and the folks who make software for you (like DraftLogic Electrical) have to deal with a number of differences in writing and compiling code.

In the migration to support 64 bit AutoCAD, we dealt with thousands of needed changes. For the most part, our 64 bit support is complete. There are, however, a few 'AutoCAD x64isms' left that we are working to resolve.

We'll update this forums item to let you know of what remains outstanding.

As of 2012/8/6, here is what we are aware of and already working on resolving:

1. Progress dialogs have been turned off, use Windows Task Manager if you desire to monitor DraftLogic Electrical's activity (one of your CPUs will be working at or near full load while DraftLogic Electrical is performing calculations).

2. [DW 2012/8/27: this was resolved as of release 3.0.0.603 shipped August 2012] Automated Exception on exit from AutoCAD 2011 x64 if Automated or Semi-Automated BCW is used during the AutoCAD session. This occurs only on exit, so your ability to use DraftLogic Electrical is not hampered...just OK out of the error notification dialog that will appear a second or two after AutoCAD 2011 x64 closes.

3. [DW 2012/8/27: this was resolved as of release 3.0.0.603 shipped August 2012] Dialog with no text on exit from AutoCAD 2012 x64 if Automated or Semi-Automated BCW is used during the AutoCAD session. This occurs only on exit, so your ability to use DraftLogic Electrical is not hampered...just OK out of the error notification dialog that will appear a second or two after AutoCAD 2012 x64 closes.

4. Rare Automated Exception in AutoCAD 2011 x64 during reports batches. To the best of our knowledge, a heavy user of DraftLogic Electrical might encounter this once a week or so. Please save your drawing before running reports. If you do encounter an Automated Exception during a reports batch, just OK out of the error notification dialog, reload your AutoCAD & drawing, and rerun the batch. The error should not reoccur--contact DraftLogic tech support if it does!

Thanks for your patience in dealing with the above, we hope that you can tolerate these inconveniences until we resolve them.

Regards,
Dean Whitford, CEO
DraftLogic Inc.
